August 2010 What we did… The Gulf Coast Resort All American Fourth was spectacular as usual! We dodged the rain, and pulled off another great dance & fireworks show! Southland Karaoke debuted on the July 3rd, and their mix of karaoke and dance tunes was a hit.
The AANR Guinness World Record Skinny Dip was held on the 10th. “It’s Hip to Skinny Dip” came true at GCR, when we recorded 109 dippers in our pool. KJ Ken played poolside well into the night. It was super fun! On July 17th, GCR’s take on the Amazing Race/Clue Hunt proved itself to be a hilarious & fun event. The team of Wendell & Terre survived for a first place win! Congrats! This is an event that we will repeat in the Fall for our Snowbirds.
What we’re doing… Before the Summer of Love, we have a Shuffleboard Tourney on August 7th, followed by a “Talent” Show at 7 pm. We know that there is a lot of talent around, so don’t be shy! Show us your special talent. There is a sign up sheet in the restaurant, be sure to sign up, so we know how many to plan for.

Yep...it’s just about here! And what a show we have in store for everyone! Three live bands, drum circles, great vendors, food and beverages!

Friday the 13th is the drum circle at the pool. The percussion group Eshumbeleke will anchor the circle, and all are invited to participate! Tiki torches and the pool LED’s will set the mood!
Saturday the 14th, the Arcade of vendors opens in the Commons and on the GCR Green. Browse thru beach art, tattoo artists, jewelry makers, masseuse, health & beauty, original art for all tastes, woodworkers, a body plaster performance, psychic reader, groovy clothing, free skin cancer pre-screening, ...and much more! Dine at Whaley’s Blazin’ BBQ right at the Cheeki Tiki, or try traditional “fair” food at the R&B Productions food trailer. And then the music!!!!
The band NUNES AT NIGHT take the stage at 1:00 pm, followed by BAREFOOT BAND at 4:00 pm!!!
On Sunday the 15th, the Arcade opens at @ 10:00 am, and the band MOJO DRAGONFLY takes the stage at 1:00 pm!
Because this is an event for the people, we are offering a low, low daily grounds fee of $10!!! Please...make you reservations now! We expect a large turnout...so plan early!!
The Fun Committee has planned Pool Games for Aug. 28th, 12:30 pm. Watch the bulletin boards for the up to the minute info when time gets closer.
AANR/AANR-FL/WINR … WINR will meet at 11:30 AM at Gulf Coast Resort. Open discussion on being a women in nude recreation. What it means to you!
Go-Go Chicks Red Hatters… The Red Hatters are planning a “come naturally” gathering at the Club House on August 19th.
Pins-n-Needles… Calling all crafters!! We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 10 am in the Club House!!Come share whatever craft you enjoy August 17th.
Crystal Ball… The Crystal Ball reveals that Summer of Love—Magical Music Tour will be a memorable event, with something for everyone. Be part of Club history! Labor Day Weekend is Sept. 3-6. Come and be a part of the celebration. Coming September 18 & 19 GCR Jail House Fundraiser. See Don & Christine R. for details. The next Show Palace Dinner Theatre event is March 13th, 2011, and the play is 42nd Street! Never too soon to plan! Now the ball is getting a little hazy, so stay tuned!!!
